How to manually change card types
When you save a link, mymind does its best to understand the content based on the information it finds. However, there are times when a link will save as an undesired card type. We are currently working on a way to adjust the card type and thumbnail of certain cards to keep your mind looking fresh.
While this feature is not out for most card types yet, there is a way to change four card types: notes, todos, highlights, and quotes.
- Todo: All todo cards start as Notes. By adding a checklist to your note, you will see the #todo tag added, which makes the Note card also act as a Todo card. Add the tag #todo yourself to manually force the card to show up when searching for your checklists.
- Highlights: Highlight cards are any cards that contain highlighted text. Unlike todos, when you highlight text in a Note, it will not automatically add the #highlight tag. You can however add the #highlight tag yourself if you want to highlight the entire note. If you want to remove a highlight covering an entire note, delete the tag.
- Quotes: Quote cards act different from the other note card types. mymind will check for quotation marks in any new notes you save.
- If quotation marks exist at the beginning and end of a chunk of text you save to your mind, mymind saves it as a Quote card. (If there's an attribution included after the quote, that is saved separately in the attribute field in the Quote card).
- Like highlights or todos, you can manually change the card type of a note to a quote by adding the tag #quote. This will format the card as a quote card instead.
- Notes are the most basic card type. If you remove any of the tags automatically added above (#quote, #highlight or #todo), it will become a plain old Note card. Highlights and quote formatting will be stripped away, but checklists in your note will remain (though the card will not show up in a search for todo).
