How to turn on WebGL and hardware accelaration

mymind requires WebGL and hardware acceleration to work properly. If the Serendipity experience feels broken, or a specific animation or feature in mymind doesn't seem to be working correctly, it's possible these settings are disabled in your browser.

You can check if WebGL is enabled in your browser with a test like the one at https://get.webgl.org.

Google Chrome and Brave

  1. Open your browser and type chrome://settings in the address bar, or click the three dot menu and click on Settings.
  2. Click System on the sidebar or search for "graphics."
  3. Ensure "Use graphics acceleration when available" is turned on.
  4. Restart your browser. You won't see any changes until you relaunch it.

Chrome System Settings page

  1. To verify it's on, type chrome://gpu in the address bar and check if WebGL is enabled.

  1. If after following those steps, WebGL is still blocked:
    1. Type chrome://flags/#disable-webgl in the address bar.
    2. Ensure WebGL is Enabled.
    3. Restart Chrome.

Safari

WebGL should be enabled by default in Safari. If you aren’t able to run WebGL in Safari, make sure that you update to the most recent version of Safari. In some cases, you may have to enable WebGL manually.

  1. From the menu bar, select Safari and then Preferences.
  2. Select the Websites tab.
  3. If you see WebGL in the list on the left side of the window, select it. (The WebGL setting appears only for computers on which WebGL may present a security risk. If the setting doesn’t appear, the site can show WebGL content).
  4. If you see access.mymind.com listed on the right, select Allow from the drop-down menu.
  5. If you don't see mymind listed, look for When visiting other websites in the lower-right corner of the window, and select either Ask or Allow from the drop-down menu.
  • Ask: You will see a dialog asking whether you want to trust the site’s use of WebGL.
  • Allow: The site can use WebGL, unless WebGL presents a security risk on your computer.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge and type edge://settings/system in the address bar.
  2. Ensure "Use hardware acceleration when available" is turned on.
  3. Restart Edge.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar.
  2. Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
  3. Search for webgl.disabled.
  4. If it is set to true, double-click it to change it to false.
  5. Restart Firefox.
