State of the Offline Sync
At this time, mymind has released a BETA version of offline support for the iOS app. This feature is currently opt-in only, and as a BETA release there may be glitches or bugs.
If you have any questions at all that aren't answered here or notice that the sync is not working for you, please let us know via help@mymind.com. Thank you!
How do I turn on Offline Sync?
As always, please make sure you are on the latest version of our iOS app.
You can enable Offline Sync (BETA) in the new mymind settings screen on mobile: swipe right on the main screen, and then swipe up to see your settings options. Tap the toggle for the Offline Sync to start downloading your content.
How does it work?
When you opt-in to the Offline Sync (BETA), mymind will immediately begin syncing your content so that it will load offline.
Note: there is not at this moment a progress bar to signal how much of your mind is synced, but your mind will continuously download your content in the background. You can however view in your iPhone settings how much storage space mymind is taking up.
Your mind will only shift to offline mode when you are fully offline: having a slow connection is not enough to change mymind to offline mode. The moment you don't have a connection at all, your mind will load everything that has been synced so far.
What can mymind do while offline?
For the foreseeable future, your mind is read-only while without a network connection. You will not be able to edit or add new cards to your mind.
You can however view your cards, open them, and read them, with a few exceptions. YouTube links cannot be viewed while offline, and will display a message telling you so if you open them. Any other card types that can not be used offline will tell you the same.
What will Offline Sync look like in the future?
We are planning to bring back the ability to draft notes even while offline. Once you save the note, it will be queued to save to your mind when you are back online.
As we're still in BETA, we have lots of improvements underway. Check back on this page periodically to see what we've updated and read about our goals for Offline Sync.
